cabinbedHello and welcome to the Quality Cabin Beds website, a website dedicated to providing the best source of information, services and products for all types of cabin beds.

Are you bored of yours or your child’s sleeping environment and are thinking of a change? If so then we strongly advise that you look in to the world of cabin beds which can be a multi-functional space saving option for stylish bedrooms. Cabin beds are becoming more and more popular with people in today’s society who seem to be obsessed with practical space saving furniture and as a result there are many different types and design available to buy.

But why is a cabin bed different to normal bed or bunk bed?

Cabin beds provide the essential sleeping area with a mattress like other beds but are raised from the floor and are generally accessible by a ladder of some form. This then provides an opportunity to utilise the space  underneath the bed and create storage areas like cupboards or drawers or even an area to put items on like a dressing table. Other common uses of the space provided include a TV or PC area where a TV or monitor can be  mounted and used to watch DVDs etc, play gaming consoles or in the case of most young people, surf the internet and do homework. The space could also be used to just provide a desk for use to sit a laptop on or write a document.

There are also the themed cabin beds for children ranging from a princess theme for girls to a pirate ship theme for boys transforming their bedroom in to a different world of enjoyment and excitement. You can getsome that look like a dolls house, some which look like  soldier forts and even cabin beds with slides attached all providing a fun way to sleep and making the bedroom environment a pleasant and fun experience.

Overall cabin beds offer more of an experience over a normal bed, platform bed or bunk bed providing a space saving piece of furniture with a practical or fun element attached with it. For me its an easy choice to make and i will guarantee that you’ll agree  with me after reading the information and advice provided by quality cabin beds.

I hope you enjoy the site…………..!!

Captains Bed

Captains_BedThe captains bed is often another name used to refer to a cabin bed but has its own unique style that stands out from other beds. The design of a captains bed is loosely based on the traditional cabin bed that you would expect to see on a boat or a sea fearing vessel where it is traditionally wooden with storage areas underneath, which is where the name originates. On the whole they are an excellent piece of furniture that can provide a stylish comfortable place to sleep combined with a practical way of maximizing space, traditionally having large storage compartments available underneath the bed itself.

They are appropriate for all ages from children to adults as they can be minimal and modern to suit the older generation or colourful and fun for the younger ages.

Although the captains bed might seem too traditional for the appropriate type of furniture for a child’s bedroom, it must be said that the style of the bed can still be very varied and offer exiting themes and styles that children will enjoy. For example the pirate ship themed captain bed often looks authentic as at the end of the day is supposed to be representing a sailing ship, which is where the idea originally came from. Such beds transform the child and their bedroom in to a swash buckling pirate on the rolling sea.

I always find that traditional wooden beds look far more stylish and more opulent than the newer aluminium types. Solid wood lasts longer, is less easily damaged and even smells nicer than other materials including non solid wood like MDF, which will help make the whole bedroom experience more enjoyable. As a result of this there are more traditional solid wood bed types like the captain bed on the market today. Other solid wood bed types include the platform bed, the bunk bed and of course the cabin bed.

Overall the captains bed is ideal for a room that has limited amount of space as it can provide a wealth of storage reducing the need to have separate drawers and in some cases a wardrobe. More and more families are turning to captains beds for their children’s or smaller guest bedrooms to provide a solid practical piece of furniture. Whether it is a cabin bed or a captain bed, the need to seriously think about furniture that as well as being comfortable can save space and ultimately money, has become more apparent in today’s economic climate.

Choose A Bed Frame To Complement The Bedroom

One of the challenges when decorating the bedroom is coming up with a bed that fits in with the rest of the décor in the room. Generally, the ideal bed is the one that is most comfortable and the one that you get the most restful night’s sleep using. This comes down to the mattress that you use, although in some cases it also comes down to the sort of bed frame that you use.

There are a number of different bed bases to choose from such as a box spring bed, cabin bed or a platform bed. Combined with a memory foam topper, each of these types of bed will give you a completely different level of support and comfort while you’re sleeping, but the style of bed that is going to be most likely to give you what you need in terms of adaptability is a platform bed.

They also complement differing styles of bedroom. A platform bed generally has a wooden frame or a metal bed frame. Either of these can be matched with other pieces of furniture in the room such as the dresser table, the chest of drawers or the bedside table lamps. In some cases you may have the bed frame before you have purchased the actual mattress.

Something to be aware of is that the entire look of the bedroom can be altered merely by changing the bed frame. The shape and size of the bed itself may be exactly the same, but by changing from a black metal bed frame to a light pine wood bed frame, the whole tone of the bedroom will be altered.

If you already have a platform bed in your bedroom and you feel like giving the room a makeover, one of the lowest cost changes may well be the bed. There are many finely crafted platform bed frames that give you a great looking bed for a low price.

Bedroom decoration is all about balance and sometimes that balance is between the cost, the actual look that you can achieve and your own personal comfort. All three factors are important and with cabin beds or a  platform bed you should be able to balance them all.

Pine Cabin Bed

There are many different types of cabin beds available on the market today ranging from a themed cabin bed for children which could include slides, castles, flags and sails to just a simple wooden pine cabin bed.

pine-cabin-bedA pine cabin bed offers a more substantial feel and look to a cabin bed from that of a themed childrens’s cabin bed which can often come with plastic and metal finishes. The pine cabin bed offers more of a traditional look to the bedroom and would obviously compliment a bedroom with an already established pine theme, i.e. pine wardrobes, pine drawers, a replacement for a futon bed etc. There is also the durability of a pine bed compared to a bed with a plastic finish etc, as wood is a lot harder wearing than other non wood finishes. As a result any wooden bed frame structure offer more of a substantial support in terms of weight.

Although the pine cabin bed might seem too traditional for the appropriate type of furniture for a child’s bedroom, it must be said that the style of the pine cabin bed can still be very varied and offer exiting themes and styles that children will enjoy. For example the pirate ship themed cabin bed often looks a lot better and more authentic made from pine as the at the end of the day is supposed to be representing a sailing ship which were obviously made from wood.  However, Its not just the boys themes that look more authentic as a girls wendy house themed cabin bed often looks more traditional and realistic made from wood.

Although i’ve mentioned that some children’s beds can often look better made from wood, it is really the more standard traditional type of beds that look the best.  Having storage areas with a pine dressing table and a pine wardrobe closet within a cabin bed can transform the decor of a bedroom making it look stylish and affluent. There are many types of pine cabin beds most that come with ample storage areas but some have areas underneath the bed that can be used as a desk or and area to store a TV or computer screen. Once again these type of storage areas make the cabin bed a preferred choice when it comes to buying a new bed as there is so much variety and style that it seems to suit all ages and types of people.

In summary purchasing a pine cabin bed is the perfect option as not only does it provide a practical and sometimes fun choice, but it also can tick the style box and look great in almost every type of decor.

Stompa Cabin Bed

A Stompa cabin bed is a particular brand of child’s cabin bed originated from Norway that is now recognized throughout the world. Stompa’s style range offer a variety of cabin beds that are suitable for children that are quite young to those in their teenage years. They often are associated with more modern styles and are renowned for being well made and well finished making them a popular choice for families wanting a cabin bed for their child. They originally started out as furniture manufacturers but have now become more specialised in the bed market and were well known for their white bunk beds using a talalay latex mattress. However they have now becoming market leaders in the cabin bed industry which seems to be the popular choice of bed for children today.

The Stompa range include cabin beds for younger children which come with a small storage area underneath and a tiny step ladder to access the bed. These cabin beds are obviously not too high and often come with a pretty hand crafted motif of a sleepy moon to provide that special touch which looks great in any room. There is then a middle range of cabin bed for children who are a bit older and require the additional storage space and compartments for toys and clothes. These beds are obviously larger in size to the younger range and offer more in terms of storage areas. Finally there is the Stompa range for children who are much older or young adults. This range caters for the changing lifestyles of children with a much higher bed providing ample room underneath to either have seating, a desk, a PC or a TV. These types of bed are ideal for teenagers with smaller bedroom areas as they make the most out of minimal spaces.

All cabin beds whether they are Stompa or not provide a effective space saving piece of furniture that families are often turning to maximise the space in a bedroom. This is partly because of the current economic climate where people do not have the finances to move in to larger accommodation and are making do with what they have and partly because children today have a lot more possession in terms of toys and clothing.  The cabin bed is the perfect solution to resolve these issues and can also be a stylish, modern and well loved piece of furniture that everybody can enjoy regardless of age.

Beds for Kids

By: Sam | Filed Under Cabin Beds

Choosing a cabin bed over a bunk bed for a child should be an easy decision to make as there are just so many more  different types of cabin beds available on the market today. The key question is what type of cabin bed will be best for my child?

piratebedIf it is for a younger child’s room then there are a range of different themed cabin beds that will a fun area to play and a comfortable place to sleep. There are so many different themes and styles depending on whether its going to be a cabin bed for a girl or a cabin bed for a boy. There are also many different beds for kids of both sexes whether it be a pink princess theme for a girl or a blue pirate ship theme for a boy, both creating an amazing different world within their bedroom.

There are racing cars, soldier forts and boats themes for boys along with Wendy houses and pink fairy castle themes for girls, even some beds for kids that even have slides which are amazing fun,  all providing an exciting experience for children of all ages.

There are obviously other choices of beds that will work for children, the one that springs to mind is the bunk bed. The bunk bed used to be every child’s dream where, if you were an only child, you could have a friend stay over at your house in your bedroom sleeping either on top or beneath you. They are also very popular for families with a number of children who live in smaller accommodation where space is tight and provide a practical space saving remedy to a potentially uncomfortable situation. There is also the platform bed which can be considered another alternative in beds for kids. These however are possibly more popular in the older child as they are a lot more stylish and offer more of an cleaner edge to a room which some children in today’s world appreciate.

I do beleive though that today the cabin bed has taken over as the new kids beds as there are so many different varieties and styles. The invention of the themed cabin bed where you can pick up a bed that doubles up as a pirate ship or a princess castle is just as an important invention of the combustion engine, alright maybe that’s a slight exaggeration, but never the less the humble cabin bed is certainly leading the market when it come to beds for kids.
